Caprio si trova sulla parte destra dell’omonimo torrente. Caprio is a picturesque village located on the right side of the homonymous stream. In the Middle Ages, it was the border of the only municipality of Lunigiana, Pontremoli, bordered by the streams Caprio and Teglia. As in the other villages of the valley, here you can recognize the typical architecture of the medieval tower-houses and vaulted passages.
A Caprio di Sopra is located, walled in a private house, a reproduction of a stele statue head: the original find, after being recently blunted, is kept at the Museum of Stele Statues in the Castle of Piagnaro Pontremoli.
Thanks to the care of the inhabitants of the village, Caprio hosts a permanent exhibition dedicated to cats, a good reason to visit the village and its alleys.
