The Museum of Natural History is located in Aulla, inside the Brunella Fortress, an example of 16th century military architecture, conceived for the defense with firearms. The fortified structure is composed of external defensive elements and internal living spaces. Originally renovated as a residence by the English Waterfield family in the early twentieth century, in 1977 the building was purchased by the Italian State and used as a museum. The exhibition aims to spread the natural sciences through a complete and innovative description of the Lunigiana landscape. The exhibition, composed of information panels, offers a diversified interpretation of a territory with naturalistic and environmental value, shaped and transformed by man over the millennia.
