Mulazzo is also famous for the unique history of Montereggio, one of its many hamlets. The inhabitants, starting from the nineteenth century, traveled with panniers of books to open libraries throughout Italy, creating generations of families of booksellers. Mulazzo, a charming village in Lunigiana, controls the right bank of the river Magra with its Byzantine tower, and houses the remains of the castle and the Malaspinian aqueduct, several palazzotti marchionali and the Malaspiniani Study Center.
Every August, Mulazzo hosts the Bancarel'VINO Prize dedicated to wines and typical products, while Montereggio celebrates the Book Festival with cultural meetings.In other villages such as Castevoli and Groppoli there are important examples of fortifications and artistic works. Also worth mentioning is the statue stele of Campoli.
